You all know this worls renowned saying and although it’s generally applied to living every day to its fullest, I have to say that the same goes for fashion.  There is nothing worse than having a big event and not looking and feeling your best.  I know it may seem superficial, however when you look fabulous it really is difficult for it not to have a knock on effect.  So with that I mind I think it’s important to choose your outfits well.

Years from now you may look at old pictures of yourself and think ‘what was I wearing’ and not because of the fashion but because you picked something completely unflattering, without shape, that makes you look like you simply rolled out of bed and into the nearest item of clothing.  You will never get those days back; you may have looked great, had a fabulous figure but gave yourself nothing to show for it! So I say stop just dressing yourself in the most comfortable clothing and saying “it’s me this is just the way I dress” because it’s not you, it’s the less organised you who couldn’t be bothered putting in the effort and will later complain about how they looked.  Ladies you can still be comfortable and look great and it doesn’t have to take hours to put together an outfit in the morning.  You also don’t need to spend a fortune on clothes to look a million dollars. All you need is to invest well in a few key pieces, be sure to dress for your shape and certainly invest in good comfortable and trendy footwear and you’ll be sorted!

When it comes to shopping I find a few handy pointers to go by are: 1) what have you got in your wardrobe?, 2) What colours best suit you (I find it best to ask a few friends or family members this question as we are not always our own best critic) 3) What I really need to be buying i.e. is it winter or summer? Do I need a coat, dress, jeans or knitwear? , 4) What is my shape (again you can get your family to help you with this one. If you need further info on shape then see my previous blog!  So if you stick to buying clothes that match what you have in your wardrobe, suit your colouring and shape then you should be on the right track!

Here’s how even the biggest stars can get it wrong!

Madonna looks like an 11 year old boy here, we all know she’s not exactly curvy but this shows how you can highlight a figure that has no curves, sorry Madonna, not one of your best fashion moments!! There’s a red carpet walk she’ll never get back, but at least she has many more of those carpets to walk down in her life, the rest of us might not be so lucky!
