It’s a trick question to a certain extent, YES prints have been the hottest thing since the explosion of the Ugg boot, especially the animal prints. Now, personally I think you either love them or hate them, I myself was a bit dubious about them when they first emerged nearly two years, I think Pat Butcher just created a vision of Leopard print that we could not get over; in fact Kat Slater had the same effect. I think in retrospect that the person in charge of wardrobe for Eastenders must have been a fashion visionary! YEA RIGHT... I’m sure we were all a bit shocked at some of the animal printed numbers that both Pat and Kat rocked into the square with, none the less we soon followed suit!
I must admit though, it suited her character down to the ground and you can see here she still looked quite hot so I take my hat off to the girl, she ROCKED it. So what about those of us that don’t carry the ‘Kat’ persona? I wouldn’t have believed these words if they were written a few years ago but I can confidently say we can all pull off a bit of animal print when worn the right way, please note I said a ‘bit’ not an entire cat suit! So will we be happy if they appear this A/W? I for one won’t really mind but I would like to see them done differently if they do make an appearance. Well I can tell you that they will re-appear but bigger and better, literally! We are looking at 1970’s style prints with the entire animal printed on your tee, or a close up of their head! Team these with some extra flare in your jeans and a nice bandana and you’re away in a hack!
On another point floral print is set to hit the scenes next season and in your favourite warm berry tones and metallic earthy tones. So it seems as though they are still hot and I have to say prints are my style, whether they be animal or floral, both are still very much a feature in my wardrobe.
Rules for wearing prints:
1) Stick to one piece per outfit:
Don’t wear several different printed pieces in the one look. If you’re going for brown toned top and skirt then perhaps add a leopard print bag, or get a leopard printed top but wear everything else in block colours!
2) Keep it simple
Only wear one print at a time, if you decide to wear a tiger print top then don’t team it with leopard print shoes, one takes away from the other, so take your favourite of the two and WORK IT!
3) If in doubt start small
If you’re a first timer when it comes to prints then start with accessories. Add a printed scarf or bag or even a nice par of heels and a chunky leopard print bangle!
4) Bigger isn’t always better ladies!
Be aware that when it comes to prints that this rule does not apply, bigger prints can make you look weighty and if you have a fuller figure then you might want to avoid some of the larger prints, the smaller prints better compliment your figure!
So that’s it ladies, if there’s an animal in you then release it and show it with your wardrobe, that is after all what fashion is all about, individuality!
Adieu until next time!
